After the 11 years of civil war, many kids were left without parents and had to do anything in order to survive. The desperate situation in the country escalated again after the Ebola outbreak in 2014, which left more than 15,000 kids orphaned, and many became completely abandoned on the streets.

Pink Power – Our partner in Sierra Leone

THINK BIG – THINK PINK

Pink Power is a grassroots movement fighting for the human rights of the most vulnerable girls and women in Sierra Leone. Started and led by sex workers, the initiative aims to eliminate violence against girls and women.

Create awareness about the lives and conditions of sex workers
Organize and mobilize sex workers to stay united and fight for their human rights
Run educational campaigns about human rights and how to eliminate oppressive and aggressive behaviour
Raise awareness about HIV and other STIs

Skill Training Center

Every year we provide free education in tailoring, hair dressing, and computer lessons to more than 50 young women, helping them build better opportunities in life.

Disabled people in Sierra Leone are marginalized politically and face discrimination in their communities. Many are highly stigmatized, denied jobs, and forced to beg to survive.

There are many children in Sierra Leone who, despite poverty, lack of family support, and a very hard upbringing, can succeed if they are given the chance.

Brighter Horizons is a Danish non-profit organization, with mission to help the most vulnerable members of society devastated by war, disease and poverty. Our focus is on providing relief to vulnerable children, street girls and the disabled in Sierra Leone
